Villa Rica, Georgia – On May 4, 2017 the West Georgia Young Lawyers’ Association elected new leadership for 2017-2018. The WGYLA was formed on January 5, 2017 by attorneys from Carroll, Douglas, Haralson, Paulding, and Polk Counties who are 40 years or younger or practicing law for 10 years or less and was accepted as an official affiliate of the State Bar of Georgia’s Young Lawyers Division on January 20, 2017.
Matthew Momtahan of the Momtahan Law Firm in Dallas and Villa Rica was elected President. Zaine Hedge of the Hedge Law Office, LLC in Douglasville was elected Vice President and President-Elect. Deniece Carrington of Villa Rica was elected Secretary. Persephone Shelton of Douglasville was elected Treasurer. John Overocker of the Carroll County Public Defender’s Office was elected as the Carroll County Delegate Representative. Leila Shaver of Shaver Law Group, LLC in Villa Rica was elected as the Douglas County Delegate Representative. Trey Kelley of Parker & Lundy in Cedartown was elected as the Haralson and Polk Counties Delegate Representative. And, Nicole Whalen of Whalen Legal Group, PC was elected as the Paulding County Delegate Representative.
The Association aims to promote the betterment of the legal profession among its members and in the community at large through the fostering of cooperation among its members and service to the public.
